CONTENT MANAGEMENT
The term Content Management describes the applications which enable the user to manage network content, such as text, images, tables or every multimedia files, with ease through a familiar environment which usually resembles that of the common office applications. The content management applications allow content editing without the need for special knowledge on website design or image processing, since text and image editing is performed through online editors.
Content management is not an end in itself. The content gathered should be structured in a way which would make it really usefull. That are Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence. Platforms and tools which aim at:
- collecting the accumulated experience of a company or institution (either from databases, or documents or even from the minds of the company's or institution's officers)
- spreading the collected experience in branches of the company or institution where it would provide the most benefit.
The recent years, Knowledge Management is growing exponentially as a business model. Computer applications are not sufficient to ensure it in an institution. Companies and organizations have developed knowledge libraries related to customer service, product development, human resource management, etc.
